Bastian Grabowski (Lead IT Consultant) 

What’s your main task?

I advise and support our customers on the topics of data protection, compliance and information security. Thanks to my many years of experience as a project manager, I also lead teams within customer projects. My Bundeswehr (German Armed Forces) history (twelve years as a regular soldier in IT),makes me very familiar with the public sector. In addition, I can put my experience from this time to very good use on the topics of employee leadership, crisis management, project management and international exercises. What particularly appeals to me about my job is the consulting I do for clients in a wide variety of industries (e.g., public sector, banking, insurance, consumer products, automotive, healthcare) and the diversity of topics depending on the client's situation.

How did you get to msg?

Through a fellow student and very good friend for many years. He knew that I was looking for something new and established the contact with msg. Five months later, we spent a year working together on a customer project in Munich, driving Europe-wide data center consolidation.

Why did you choose the msg security advisors area?

Even during my time in the Bundeswehr, the topic of information security was omnipresent and I was in regular contact with the people responsible for information security. Due to my many years of experience in operational IT and the associated experience of knowing "where the shoe often pinches", I can well understand the concerns of customers and their IT departments. After the Bundeswehr, I first worked as a project manager for several years, where my knowledge in the field of information security was always helpful. That's why I decided to make the change again and focus on information security. In retrospect, it was the right decision, because the mix of both topics is what makes it so appealing to me.
